Alex and Olivia’s Detroit Golf Club wedding on July 26th, 2025 was exactly the kind of day that reminds me why I love this work. Elegant and thoughtfully planned, but never stiff. Full of joy from the very first moment to the very last. This is a look at their day and what made it so special.

A Detroit Golf Club Wedding That Felt Effortless
The Kind of Couple That Makes Your Job a Gift
There are weddings where you can feel the stress in the air from the moment you walk in. And then there are weddings like Alex and Olivia’s.
From the very start of the day, the two of them were just relaxed. Not in a checked out way, but in the best possible way. Alex and Olivia were present, excited, and ready to be married and they were not going to let anything pull them out of that feeling. That energy spread to their wedding party, to their guests, and honestly to everyone working their day.
I can say without hesitation that it was one of the most enjoyable days I spent behind a camera all summer. When a couple is that at ease, it gives you the freedom to stop worrying and just shoot. And the photos show it.
Detroit Golf Club as a Wedding Venue
Elegance Without Feeling Stuffy
The Detroit Golf Club has a kind of understated elegance that is hard to find. It is a venue that feels special without trying too hard. The architecture is beautiful, the grounds are lush and green in the summer, and the spaces inside move from intimate to grand in a way that photographs really well throughout the day.
For a July wedding it was the perfect backdrop. The outdoor spaces gave us gorgeous green scenery during portraits and the interior gave us beautiful warm light for the reception. It is the kind of venue that works with you rather than against you, which as a photographer makes a real difference.

The Moments That Stood Out
From the Moment They Saw Each Other
There is a moment at every wedding that tells you everything you need to know about a couple. For Alex and Olivia it happened the moment they saw each other. The excitement on both of their faces was immediate and genuine. Not nervous, not overwhelmed. Just pure joy. You could feel how ready they were to finally be married.
That kind of energy is impossible to manufacture and impossible to miss. It carried through the entire day.
Olivia’s Bouquet Dedication
The most moving moment of the day came during the reception when Olivia dedicated her bouquet to her mom. It was quiet and personal and completely unexpected for most of the room. The kind of gesture that stops everything for a moment.
There was not a dry eye anywhere. And the photos from that moment are some of the most quietly powerful images from the entire day.
Those are the moments that remind me what wedding photography is really about. Not just the details and the décor and the beautiful light, but the human moments that happen when people are surrounded by everyone they love.
A Wedding Party That Brought the Energy
Alex and Olivia had a wedding party that matched their energy completely. Fun, relaxed, and fully committed to celebrating. The group photos were genuinely easy because everyone was already having a good time. Nobody needed to be convinced to smile.
That is not always the case and when it is, you notice it immediately.

What a Summer Detroit Golf Club Wedding Looks Like
July Light and Lush Green Grounds
July at the Detroit Golf Club is a treat for photography. The grounds are at their fullest and greenest, the light in the late afternoon is warm and long, and the combination of indoor and outdoor spaces means the day has natural variety built into it.
For couples thinking about a summer wedding at the Detroit Golf Club, the outdoor portrait opportunities during golden hour are genuinely special. The light through the trees on the course, the architecture of the clubhouse behind you, the warm July air. It is one of those venues where the setting does a lot of the work if you give yourself the time to use it.

If You Are Planning a Detroit Golf Club Wedding
A Detroit Golf Club wedding tends to attract couples who want something that feels classic and elevated without being stiff or overly formal. Alex and Olivia are a perfect example of that. The venue sets a beautiful tone and the couples who choose it tend to bring a warmth to the day that makes everything feel intentional and alive.
